Here's my new album, and the story behind it....

Did you like the sirens? That was my friend Gyan. She actually named the album so it's nice you heard her first.

This recording had its first little throb of life back in September 02.........I had some songs sloshing around in me, some new, some old, some borrowed....

The Cruel Sea had calmed down and at the urging of my friends I took the first tentative steps of this record ...

It was pretty quick putting down the actual songs, a couple of afternoons in fact. Just me in a room with a guitar and a stomp box.....the room belonged to my friends Simon and Gyan. (Simon was building a studio and had loads of great old mics and stuff.)

I put em down then left em alone for awhile. Step away for awhile and a song will tell you what it needs.......an egg here a tambo there, a pinch of organ, a teacup of bass..........

I had to be careful not to add too much I didn't want it to sound like a band....sometimes the more sounds you put between a song and the listener the less of the song you hear............

so anyway I think I got the balance just right ............what do you think?
